Although some consider salt spoons (and cellars) relics of a time when salt was a much more consumed condiment, they still make beautiful additions to any table. Most early English salt spoons were made primarily of silver; others are made from a varied and intriguing mix of materials, including glass, bone, horn, ivory and lucite.
Whenever I entertain, I put a salt and pepper cellar at every table setting, so that each of my guests can enjoy them. They may be a relic of the past, but elegance, I believe, is timeless.
Oh, I do love salt spoons! I have some in mother of pearl. Your blog is inspiring me to use my collectibles more for every day life. Thanks!

I think that these spoons can also be used for caviar, since you're not supposed to use metal, even silver, with caviar.
